Art Basel opened today!
Since its debut in 1970, Art Basel has become the Modern and contemporary art world’s premier platform with annual art shows sited on three continents—Europe (Basel), North America (Miami), and Asia (Hong Kong)—Art Basel is the only art show with such global reach.
Located in the heart of Europe, the annual Art Basel (June 18-21, 2015) show brings together more than 300 leading galleries from around the world, creating the leading international art show of its kind for Modern and contemporary art. Special sectors structure the show, providing different presentation formats for galleries and artists, alongside special sectors overseen by leading international curators.
Eight show sectors (Galleries, Feature, Statements, Edition, Unlimited, Parcours, Film, Magazine) offer a diverse collection of artworks, including pieces by established artists and newly emerging artists, curated projects, site-specific experiential work, and film.
In the main sector of the show, the Galleries sector, will feature a strong list of 223 galleries. The returning exhibitors will be joined by three galleries, Rodeo (Istanbul, London), Take Ninagawa (Tokyo) and Vilma Gold (London), who will exhibit within the sector for the first time.
