A few hours before to presenting her new fall/winter 2012-13 collection, Elena Martin received us in her backstage to chat and give us an advance scoop. The collection is called –Park Life– and is about life in the english parks. It’s based on the gardens typical of all households; with gardens, blocky forms and rocks. It reflects on the irony that big cities have parks for people to evade and be calm.
However, there is an obsession with the constructivist, with simple elements like a fountain, a bench, a tree, among others. The collection show every stereotype of the characters to british society that visiting these parks. Each fabric, color and texture is deeply studied to represent a different character, but united by the aesthetics of the parks.
Elena also talked us about the process that she follows when is creating the collection, and she said that all patterns come from men’s tailoring, including feminine patterns. On the current fashion scene, she looks very important generational change and new information technologies.
