Words & Photographs by Maria Nitulescu
Berlin Art Week, an event dedicated to contemporary art, took place for the fifth time this year and combined a range of events from art exhibitions, art fairs, and art awards, to an auxiliary programme featuring talks, films, and tours. Promising to answer questions like WHAT MOVES ART? – what influences and motivates artists today: from science and technology, social processes and political developments, to the world of advertising. The core of this week is abc –art berlin contemporary – founded by a group of local galleries with a common interest in promoting Berlin as an art market.
At its 9th edition, running from September 15th to 18th, abc still commits to place the spotlight on the artists and their artwork, bringing together local and international galleries to represent their leading established and emerging artists. The abc took place at the Station – Berlin, Gleisdreieck, a building in transition from a train station to a post office, and now the heart of the international art world, enabling abc’s continual development.
