Record of attendance this year at BKLYN Design Week 2015, a resounding success for the event supported and heavily promoted by the Chamber of Commerce and sustained by NYCxDESIGN and NY & Co.
Established 12 years ago, the BKLYN Designs is one of the first exhibitions of creative industry that gives its contribution to Brooklyn economy. Among the participants you may find designers, architects, artists, but also builders, developers and educators, whose efforts are focused only on celebrating the iconic style and vibrant community of the quarter.
This year the fair was held in bright Brooklyn Expo Center, which for three days welcomed exhibitors (nearly 7000 brands were presented) and visitors.
The opening night, sponsored by Metropolis and Broadway Stages, gave the official start to the New York Design Week, with more than 1,000 guests in the industry and beyond.
During the exhibition there were organized seminars on various topics, such as the Brooklyn Landmark Interiors and history of the plating of the famous Katy Sparks.
There were many creative collaborations with companies based in Brooklyn, like the one with Jill Malek who oversaw wallcoverings for Tattly Parlor, Situ Studio and Studio Maiarelli that have enriched the show with their imagination and fantasy.
Dwell has been one of the key sponsors of BKLYN Designs, which, in addition to having organized a visit in the five most incredible private residences in Brooklyn during the Home Tours, has also created a pop-up store in which they exhibited the works of young designers and artists the neighbourhood.
Another important element of support to the event was the ADFF Pop-Up Cinema, where the Architecture & Design Film Festival presented a series of short films that focused on architecture and design.
No wonder that the success of this event grows every year, thanks to the creativity of a growing: BKLYN Designs shows every year new initiatives, visions and talents.
