From September 14 to 22 the City of London will become the capital of design and host what one could define as the English equivalent of the Salone del Mobile in Milan: the London Design Festival.
The event, now in its eleventh edition, will host more than 250 companies and more than 300 events. This year, they are planning some site-specific events in the city, among which there are several projects for Saint Paul Cathedral (‘Endless Stair’ by Alex de Rijke, in collaboration with AHEC, Arup, dRMM and Seam Design) and for Victoria and Albert Museum.
The latter will be the headquarters of the event, along with the six Design Destinations, that are the six key-points where the most important events will be settled: 100% Design, Decorex International, designjunction, Tent and Super Brands London, FOCUS/13, Chelsea Harbour and Southbank Centre.
Fundamentals are also the five Design District: Brompton Design District, Fitzrovia Now, Shoreditch Design Triangle, Chelsea Design Quarter and Clerkenwell Design Quarter. The London Design Festival 2013 will be primary based on a chain of events, scattered throughout the city: London is turning into a set for all the young designers. The events will take place, in fact, in the clubs, art galleries and shops of the major brands. In the same week, from September 18 to 21, there will also be the “100% Design at Earls Court“, the most important design fair in the UK.
