Could you please tell us a little more about yourself? Where do you live?
My name is Wardzala Marion, I am 25 years old and I am a student in a master degree of Visual Arts at the University of Picardie Jules Verne in Amiens. I am manual, patient, and passionate of all that surrounds me. I love creating things, I make jewelry as well. I love to capture everything around me on film, and I want to make my life a journey around the world.
Where does your inspiration comes from?
I am inspired by artists such as Arno Rafael Minkkinen, whom I studied in my class. I like to put the body and nature related. I created wacky scenes. I like to play with the body and beautiful things around us.
How did you start taking pictures?
My desire to photograph was born when I started making trips to Morocco and Italy … I love to freeze and keep for me these precious moments of travel, a time or a place dear to my heart.
In a portrait, what is important for you?
In a portrait, which is important for me is to emphasize an emotion at a glance. I want the look to be strong and it tells a story. I want the viewer to imagine the feelings, the history of the person photographed.
What kind of relationship do you have with your subject when you shoot?
I usually photograph my friends. I go explore places, countries with them. If I want to photograph a stranger I always ask it agreement, explaining that I’m doing this primarily for pleasure, just for me.
Do you think it’s important to follow a school to learn how to shoot?
I don’t think it is necessary to make a great school, it’s important above all to stand. It gives me strength to be self-dependent and not depend upon a school. Students like me may not be able to afford to pay fees to an institution.
What’s the photo you want to take and you never did?
The photo that I would like to take is in China, it is the multicolored rocks Zhangye Danxia mountain but I also would love to travel in the United States is a paradise with its varied landscapes.
What’s your photo-mission?
My mission as a photographer is all about making people travel by my pictures, I feel that people dream and imagine stories, all the stories they want. I want to show also that the body is a return to nature. The nature around us is so beautiful, we must preserve it.
