The Third Place is a term used to describe a space that exists between the workplace and the home. I became fascinated with the various public parks scattered across Tokyo and began making pictures as a means of engaging with the spaces and the people who use them. In a sense the work is part documentary and part autobiographical – a personal utilisation of photography and the most fundamental purpose of the public park – to interact.
